ROUTE THROUGH THE SCENARIOS OF THE FILM "JAMÓN JAMÓN"

THE MONEGROS

The Monegros region is located in the eastern part of the Autonomous Community of Aragon, in the Central Valley of the Ebro. It is a sparsely populated territory where the prevailing silence and tranquility are one more attraction for visitors.

The film director Bigas Luna, closely linked to Aragon, takes his romantic drama Jamón, jamón (1992) to this “sea of land”, as he called it. It is a story that intelligently plays with certain Spanish topics such as the Iberian macho, the bulls, the ham or the potato omelette.

THE ROUTE.

the route begins with Candasnos. From Ballobar you can reach Candasnos by road HU-V-8601 that comes out of the same Ballobar

It is a 42 km route. It has been conceived as a 'road movie', a road trip that includes eleven stops where you can enjoy some of the most emblematic locations of the Bigas Luna movie, which was shot in the southern area of Los Monegros.

Among its most famous scenes, there is the Osborne bull poster located in Peñalba or the soccer field in the town of Monegrillo.

The route is fully signposted and runs in the Monegrillo municipalities of Monegrillo, Bujaraloz and Peñalba, as well as in Candasnos (Bajo Cinca) and Pina de Ebro (Ribera Baja del Ebro).

The signage includes eleven explanatory panels that help us remember and relive some of the most emotional and heartbreaking scenes in the film.

THE MOVIE

We remind you that this movie stars a trio of actors: Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and Jordi Mollà, and directed by BIgas Luna. The film won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Festival.
